Leeds, Utah
This past trip to Utah required us to fly into the Las Vegas airport and drive to Provo, a six hour drive. On the day we had to drive back to Las Vegas, we decided to make a day of it and make some stops along the way. In particular, we wanted to try our hand at rockhounding. We stopped in two places Summit, Utah and Leeds, Utah. I will post more about our awesome adventure in Summit later. This post is about Leeds. This town is barely a dot on the map. We were coming here to hunt for petrified wood. To do so, we had do a little offroading in a minivan which scared me a bit. At first the area didn't seem very special, but then you pass a few hills and it opens up to just a gorgeous view of the red canyons Utah is famous for. The picture above it one of my favorites from the trip. We didn't stay long because of the 104 degree temps so we only found one small pieceof petrified wood but it was worth it.
