Here is today's lunch for the kids.
Fried tofu with teriyaki sauce in a pig-shaped bottle
Edamame
Onigiri (shaped rice covered with furikake seasoning) and teriyaki sauce
Frozen pineapple chunks
Believe it or not, the fried tofu is yummy with the sauce. Arick has loved tofu for a long time and I wanted to try and incorporate it into his lunch. Arick is my fussiest eater, so getting some variety in his lunches is a special goal of mine. This was my first attempt with frying tofu and he seemed to really like the sample I gave him. We'll know for sure if it is a big hit or not when he comes home from school.
I got my replacement parts for my rice cooker finally, so now I can prepare ahead some other rice based bento meals. Today I will be making more musubi and freezing individual portions of rice.

Amy!! I finally tracked you down. After leaving comments on my blog but having no idea how to hook up with yours. I found the link off of Ashley's blog. Fun! Your kids are so cute and BIG!! And Ella is adorable. I think you were pregnant when we left CT. Your lunchbox ideas are so so cute and creative. I haven't had time to get through all the archives but can't wait to peek around. Are you still doing CTMH? I'd love to get an upated catalog sometime if you are! glad I found you!
I LOVE the sound of these lunches!! Is that an actual picture of what you put together? If so... where did you find that container? I want to know some of these recipes you are talking about! You should either post them or email them to me!! I LOVE Japanese food! And it sounds especially good to me now! Good work!!
